2009 Youth Leadership Camp
June 27 - July 2, 2009

Empowering high school youth to become leaders, this residential camp Take Leadership To The Next Level will be held June 27 - July 2, 2009 at Camp Aldersgate in North Scituate.  Youth learn through interactive activities, discussion groups, workshops, creative evening programs and recreational time, and leave with new tools for leadership and friendships to carry far into the future.

Leadership for a Future
CLASS OF 2009

RICJ is partnering with the Institute for Labor Studies and Research, with support from the RI Foundation, RI AFL-CIO and WorkingRI to conduct this institute for emerging leaders from community, labor, religious, nonprofit and business groups.  Combining training by recognized experts and network-building, this years' theme is "RI Public Education", LFAF begins in January with graduation May 15, 2009.

The awards reception was held Thursday October 16 at the RI Convention Center, celebrating two "Entrepreneurs Making A Difference": Steven Issa for outstanding service in promoting educational opportunity for youth from all walks of life, and Keith Stokes for tireless efforts as an ambassador for the principles of inclusion and respect for all, no matter where they are from.

Traces of the Trade: A Story of the Deep North
Documenting RI's slave trade history

RICJ and Ebb Pod Productions partnered to conduct previews with community dialogues prior to the film's national tv debut on PBS June 24.   Traces was also at the Sundance & Newport Film Festivals.  Contact Ann Clanton aclanton@etal.uri.edu or 467-1717 x 101 to arrange facilitated dialogues on "Traces".

The RI Civil Rights Roundtable sponsors  educational programs and forums with candidates for statewide office. Candidates respond to key questions on civil rights and social justice.  Spanish language translation and real-time captioning was available.
